Privacy Policy

Last updated: July 12, 2026

This is a template starting point, not a substitute for legal advice. It should be reviewed by a lawyer before being relied on for compliance.

What we collect

When you create an account, we collect your name and email address (via Clerk, our authentication provider). If you subscribe to a paid plan, our payment processor (Stripe) collects your billing details — we never see or store your full card number. We also store the content you create in Founderest: your Blueprint, advisor conversations, and project data.

If you accept analytics cookies, we collect anonymized usage data (pages visited, features used) via PostHog, to understand how Founderest is used and improve it. You can decline this at any time — see “Cookies” below.

How we use it

  • To provide the product — running your advisor sessions, generating your Blueprint, tracking your build progress
  • To process payments for paid plans
  • To send account-related emails (login, password reset, billing) and, if you opt in, product updates
  • To fix bugs — error details (via Sentry) help us catch problems before they affect more users
  • To improve the product, using anonymized usage data if you've accepted analytics cookies

Who we share it with

We don't sell your data. We share it only with the service providers that make Founderest work, each bound by their own data protection terms:

  • Clerk — authentication and account management
  • Stripe — payment processing
  • Anthropic — powers the AI advisors (your session content is sent to Anthropic's API to generate responses)
  • PostHog — product analytics, only if you accept analytics cookies
  • Sentry — error tracking
  • Fly.io, Vercel, and Cloudflare — hosting and infrastructure

Cookies

We use one essential cookie (from Clerk) to keep you signed in — this isn't optional, the product doesn't work without it. If you accept analytics cookies, PostHog sets an additional cookie to recognize you across visits. You can decline analytics cookies in the banner shown on your first visit, or by clearing your browser's cookies for this site to see the banner again.

Your rights

Wherever you're located, you can ask us to access, correct, export, or delete your personal data at any time by emailing us (below). If you're in the European Economic Area or UK, this includes the rights guaranteed under GDPR, including the right to object to processing and to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority. If you're a California resident, this includes the rights guaranteed under the CCPA, including the right to know what personal information we've collected and to request its deletion. We don't sell personal information, so there's nothing to opt out of in that respect.

Data retention

We keep your account data for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, we delete your personal data and project content within 30 days, except where we're required to keep records for legal or tax reasons (such as payment records).

Children

Founderest is not directed at children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect data from them.

Changes to this policy

If we make material changes to this policy, we'll notify you by email or through the product before the changes take effect.
